Proverbs 21 was an entire feast and I was definitely blessed by all the insights that were shared! May we never wander away from understanding in Jesus’ name.

Proverbs 22 took me back to when I was a teenager and I used to ask certain questions – like whether lying for a good cause was right; or if it’s okay to cover up for a friend who did something wrong to save him/her from trouble.

I used to think there were grey areas that couldn’t be regarded as sin especially if they were for a “good cause.”

The truth is that there isn’t any grey area with God. The military men have no grey areas in their instructions. You’re either for your country or against your country. In the same vein, you’re either for God’s kingdom or against it. The landmark is very visible. Let’s stop adjusting it to suit ourselves.

“Do not remove the ancient landmark Which your fathers have set.”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22:28‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

Our fathers in the Faith have set several spiritual and even physical boundaries which are relevant till date.

One example is given in verses 6 and 15 about training our children in every aspect. Have you ever wondered why there are so many obese children? Asides genetic reasons, many modern day parents over-indulge their children. They just find it hard to say “no” to their children. I’m sure most of us didn’t grow up being indulged, neither was the rod of correction spared for our sakes.

Another landmark is that of kindness and hospitality. That was how Abraham entertained angels. Verses 22 and 23 tell us never to be mean/oppress the poor. It doesn’t hurt to be kind to everyone around us including our domestic staff.

One more landmark is given in verse 28 – the landmark of diligence. A lazy person always gives an excuse. However, diligent people can never be out of demand.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me never to erase ancient landmarks to suit myself.
