Proverbs 20:15 (CEV) says “sensible words are better than gold or jewels”.

The Amplified version says “There is gold and an abundance of pearls, but the lips of knowledge are a vessel of preciousness [the most precious of all].”

The words that come out of our mouths are arrows that can never be taken back. Here they are likened to precious jewels, meaning they are here to stay – there is no phasing them out. There are no trends when it comes to precious jewels. Precious jewels are timeless.

So, you cannot copy slangs and trends that are not in alignment with your life’s purpose and values.

No matter how funny or in season they sound, when you say them, there is no retrieval except by the mercy of God.

As a child of God, don’t get carried away and begin to say what you don’t want to see in your life.

Everything you see was created by words (See Genesis 1).

Revelation-knowledge fills you up with the right words to say in every season of your life. But most importantly, it helps you to know when to keep quiet.

Proverbs 20:3 (AMP) says “It is an honor for a man to keep away from strife [by handling situations with thoughtful foresight] But any fool will [start a] quarrel [without regard for the consequences]

Knowing when to keep quiet saves you from a life-time of problems.

Wisdom helps you to know when to refrain from speaking. This doesn’t make you weak – rather, it displays the strength and resilience you have built by staying in God’s presence.

Proverbs 10:19-20a (AMP) says “When there are many words, transgression and offense are unavoidable, but he who controls his lips and keeps thoughtful silence is wise. The tongue of the righteous is like precious silver (greatly valued).”

Proverbs 17:28 (AMP) further says “Even a callous, arrogant fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise. When he closes his lips, he is regarded as sensible (prudent, discreet) and a man of understanding.”

A word is enough for the wise!
